This stunning mother of pearl shell pendant measures 33mm in diameter and has a fabulous swirl of koru inspired detail through the shell.
Mother of pearl shell is the common name for iridescent nacre.Nacre is a blend of minerals that oysters and other mollusks secrete and deposit inside their shells. These secretions coat and protect their bodies from parasites and foreign objects.
Although mother of pearl shell appears white, when it moves and the light reflects on it, it picks up pinks and mauves, even shades of the palest green. There is a protective layer of resin on the back of the shell.
