Why does my ring no longer fit?
There are many reasons why your rings may have suddenly stopped fitting correctly. Some examples include:
- You may have bought a ring overseas and not had a chance to get it resized.
- You may have been given a ring as a gift and it doesn't fit.
- Your knuckles might have become swollen as you age.
- You may have lost or gained weight (did you know that a loss or gain of just 5-7 kilos can mean that your ring size changes?).
- You're new to New Zealand and your body is adjusting to the climate.

Where can I get my ring resized in Auckland?
SilverStone Jewellery are your local North Shore, Auckland manufacturing jewellery experts with more than 30 years of experience. Located at 2/12 Glenvar Road, Torbay, you'll find our in-house studio where our master jeweller, Alex, is available to resize your ring, check the setting of any stones and finish the job off with a professional polish.
We can resize sterling silver rings, gold, platinum and palladium. Plus, we're able to rhodium plate white gold rings after resizing. Please note that titanium and stainless steel are unable to be resized.
Alex is a fully qualified goldsmith jeweller. He's also a Trade Certified Registered Manufacturing Jeweller and is a member of the Jewellers & Watchmakers of New Zealand Inc., so you can be assured your jewellery is in experienced and caring hands.
Our studio features a fully equipped workshop, which means that all resizing work is done onsite. You can rest easy knowing that your precious jewellery stays right here with us in our North Shore, Auckland workshop at all times.
How does our ring resizing process work?
- Call us on 021 184 6467 or email (lori@silverstonejewellery.co.nz) to book an appointment.
- Enjoy our complimentary fitting and advice service upon arrival.
- You leave the ring with us.
- We resize the ring.
- During resizing, we'll also give your ring an overall inspection. We'll check the claws and settings for any issues with the stones, and call you if we think there's anything that needs urgent attention.
- We give the ring a professional clean and polish.
- You come and collect your ring - now with a new, perfect fit!
All work is fully guaranteed.
How long does a ring resizing in Auckland take?
We know you don't to be apart from your jewellery for that long, which is why we proudly offer an industry-leading turnaround time of just THREE DAYS for most rings.
In some circumstances we may even be able to offer a next day ring resizing service for an additional $25.
How much does it cost to get my ring resized in Auckland?
Please note that the following price are estimates, and the actual cost can vary depending on the amount of work required, the width of the band and the complexity of the job. We have to inspect the ring before giving a firm quote, but generally the prices are in this range:

We have onsite eftpos and credit card facilities, or you can pay via online banking.
*If your ring is white gold then it will need to rhodium plated after it has been resized.
Depending on the width and size of the ring, rhodium plating costs an additional $75.
Is it possible to get my ring resized on the same day?
Need to have your ring resized urgently?
Depending on the ring and our workload, we may be able to offer a next day service with an additional surcharge of $25. Give us a call on 0211846467 to see if we can help.
When we can offer this is next day service we would book you in to drop off your ring in the morning and then we will have your ring ready for you the following afternoon.
We'll call/text you when your newly resized and polished ring is ready to collect.
